I can’t believe the day is finally here. I’ve envisioned writing this post for so long now, it’s surreal that the time has come. The project I have poured my blood, sweat and tears into over the past three years is officially a published novel. I’ve rewritten dialogue, painstakingly edited out scenes, cried when an agent requested my manuscript, shed more tears when I was rejected by that same agent, analyzed the placement of each fleuron, agonized over the size of the font, and rewrote my jacket copy at least ten times. And now I feel like a new parent, sending my child off into the world for the first time. It’s scary and exhilarating, knowing I’m sharing a piece of myself. Because writing is very personal. It’s like giving people a glimpse behind the curtain, allowing them to experience (and judge) my inner-most thoughts. I’m also personally invested in my characters and my story—and not only because I want them to have a happy ending, but because my life experiences have shaped Lexi’s character. I hope readers will view her as a strong and relatable heroine—and will root for her. And I hope you’ll root for me too. So to everyone who has championed me along the way, thank you. Thank you for believing in me and for your unwavering support.
When I pictured this moment, I always thought it signified that my long journey has come to an end. But now I realize that I was wrong.
This is only the beginning.
The beginning of what I hope will be my next chapter. I have a book to promote, a blog to keep up, and a hunger to continue what I’ve started. I have more stories to write. So this is not in fact the end. It’s just the beginning.
If you are looking to take a chance on a first-time author, click here to buy my book. And if you need an incentive, I am donating 5% of the royalties from each sale to the Make-a-Wish Foundation, a charity that both Lexi and I believe in. Drop me a line and let me know what you think. And please be sure to leave a rating and review on Amazon.
